Billy Joe Pate, 84, of Johnson City, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, April 12, 2019, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
A native of Johnson City, he was a son of the late Tom and Allie McMackin Pate.
Bill served in the United States Army and was a retired mechanic. He loved old cars and attended the Carter County Car Show as long as his health would permit. His hands showed the love of Christ to many through the use of his tools and generosity in helping them without asking for anything in return. He was an active member of Lone Oak Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Betty Conley Pate; his sons, Terry Peterson and Tim Conley and wife Leslie; his granddaughter, Kayla Peterson; his grandsons, Bailey Conley, Hunter Conley and Nathan Peterson; his special friends, Bessie Whitehead and Penny White; and his special garage buddies, Henry Burrows, David Godsey, Danny Casteel and Bobby Church, and a host of other garage buddies.
It was his wish to be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Bill to the West Carter County Fire Department or the Alzheimer’s Foundation of your choice. Condolences may be sent to the family at our website, www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
Memorial Funeral Chapel is assisting the Pate family.
