The Carter County Republican Party has announced a change in dates for the Lincoln Day Dinner according to Vice Chairwoman Judy Reed who said the change was made in response to a request by Governor Bill Lee who asked if the dinner could be moved to May 30.
With many making plans on attending the previously scheduled date of May 16 at Sutton Hall on Milligan’s Campus, the slight change in plans has not dampened the spirits of the county’s Republican party according to Reed who expects the low supply of remaining dinner tickets to be gone soon.
“Everything is going to be the same,” said Reed. “We still have a very limited amount of dinner tickets available at $30 each for the dinner which starts at 6:30 p.m.
“All of the reception tickets have been sold so there are no remaining tickets left for the pre-dinner reception with Governor Lee which begins at 5:30 p.m.”
Lee, who made numerous stops in Carter County and Elizabethton during his campaign for governor, is fulfilling his promise made to Reed and the Republican Party when he was asked to come for the dinner after winning the election.
Lee, who according to Reed has a big heart for East Tennessee, stated that if he did in fact win the election that he would be more than happy to be the guest speaker.
Reed stated previously that the dinner serves to bring the party together and unify in a time of fellowship and renewal.
“The dinner and program are really going to be enjoyable for all that attended,” stated Reed.
The remaining dinner tickets may be secured by calling President Johnny Holder, 213-3072; Reed, 262-8163; or Rick and Rosemary Meredith, 534-8407.
Tickets may also be purchased at the party’s headquarters located in the Ritz Mini Mall at 527 E. Elk Ave. in downtown Elizabethton.
Milligan College’s Sutton Hall is located at 101 Neth Drive on the college campus.
