Florence Daugherty

Florence Daugherty, 97, of Elizabethton, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2019, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home. Florence was born in Carter County to the late George Washington Taylor and Nannie Lyons Taylor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Daugherty; a daughter, Sheila Daugherty; a son, Roger Daugherty; and five brothers; one sister; seven half brothers; and two half sisters.
Florence was a former employee of North American Rayon Corporation. She was a member of Keenburg Free Will Baptist Church, where she had attended since birth and had previously served as clerk and treasurer for over 50 years. Florence enjoyed vegetable gardening, cooking for her family and visiting the sick in her community.
Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Jerry Daugherty and wife Vicky of Elizabethton and Kyle Daugherty, also of Elizabethton; one grandson, Jerry Daugherty and wife Rachel of Knoxville; one granddaughter, Jennifer Daugherty of Elizabethton; three great-granddaughters, Emilia and Ella Daugherty of Knoxville, and Harper Smith of Elizabethton; and one brother, Walter Taylor of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to celebrate the life of Florence Daugherty will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, in the Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Pastor Gene Fleenor officiating. Music will be provided by Joyce Grindstaff. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 6 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 23, at Happy Valley Memorial Park.
