William Wilson McCranie

William Wilson McCranie, 85, of Elizabethton, passed away Friday, May 17, 2019, at the James H. Quillen VA in Johnson City, Tenn. He was the son of the late Woodrow Wilson and Modina Coner McCranie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Douglas Wayne McCranie and Richard Stephen McCranie; two sisters, Willene Wilson and Barbara Jenquin; one brother, Curtis McCranie; and two nephews, David Wilson and Steven Wayne Wilson.
Mr. McCranie served the U.S. for 20 years in the U.S. Army. He served in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam Conflict. William loved to travel, hike, hunting and fishing, western art and to be outdoors.
Those left to cherish his memory include two daughters, Donna McCranie of Monroe, N.C., and Debra Mills of Goldsboro, N.C.; two sons, Steven McCranie of Phoenix, Ariz., and Edward D. McCranie, also of Phoenix, Ariz.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Paul McCranie of Virginia. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service for William Wilson McCranie will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 23, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. George Futrell officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service. The graveside service will follow the celebration of life service at 2:30 p.m. at Mountain Home National Cemetery with full Military Honors accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be selected from friends and family. Those wishing to make memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517.
