Rev. Meril “Wayne” Pruitt

Rev. Meril “Wayne” Pruitt, 77, of Johnson City, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at Johnson City Medical Center. Wayne was born in Elizabethton to the late M.B. “Speedy “and Frankie Ann (Stoncipher) Pruitt. Wayne was an elder of Resurrection Power Church of Johnson City and a minister for over 60 years. During that time he served as a Pastor and an Evangelist. Wayne was a hard worker, loved by all those who knew him and he will be missed by many.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his sisters, Jonnie B. Presnell, Thelma Malone, Berdie Gantt and Barbara Bloss, and brothers, Billy Dale Pruitt, Bud Newport, Leon Pruitt and Jerry Donald Pruitt.
Those left to cherish his memory include his fiancée, Linda Light; son, Kevin Pruitt; daughter, Tacy Hudson; grandchildren, Jessica Pruitt and Zoe Hudson; brothers, M.B. Pruitt Jr., Mack Pruitt and Bobby Jack Pruitt; and sister, Charlotte Hasson.
The family will gather to greet friends and share memories on Saturday, June 1, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Tetrick Funeral Services in Johnson City. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. Michael Blankenship, Rev. David Jackson and Rev. Shannon Sims officiating. A graveside service will follow at Washington County Memory Gardens at 2:30 p.m. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The Pruitt family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers over the past months. They would like to thank Linda Light for taking such good care of him over the years, the staff of the Johnson City Medical Center, and the ETSU Medicine Staff. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Wayne’s memory, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
