On Wednesday, June 5, 2019, Martha Sue “Granny” Messer, 72, of Hampton, went to be with the Lord at Holston Valley Hospital.
Martha was a homemaker and was of the Baptist Faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Messer, and her parents, Vernon and Leola Eldreth Tate.
Survivors include one daughter, Beverly Guinn, Hampton; one son, Tracy Bellany; two grandchildren, Scott Fleenor and Christa Hughes; and three great-grandchildren, Kaylee Hughes, Braydon Hughes and Lyncoln Fleenor.
Funeral services for Martha Sue “Granny” Messer will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, June 7, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Brandon Young officiating. The graveside service and interment will be at noon Saturday, May 8, in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Hampton. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff and residents of Brookhaven Manor, Kingsport. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence of her daughter, Beverly Guinn, 420 Brown Branch Road, Hampton. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 11:50 a.m. Saturday.
