Peggy Bernice Arwood McMahan, 59, Elizabethton, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at Johnson City Medical Center. She was born December 18, 1959 in Banner Elk, N.C., to the late Bill and Maxie Freeman Arwood. She had lived her entire life in Carter County.
Peggy was a graduate of Cloudland High School. She was employed several years at Ridgewood Barbeque. She attended Bible Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Don Arwood.
Survivors include her daughter, Lori Lee Osborne and husband Thomas Paul; five grandchildren, Jonathan, Faith, Isabella, Liam and Julie Osborne; her sisters, Terri Hughes and husband Rocky, Jeanette Street and husband Roy and Angie Tribble and husband Jim; her nephews, Scottie Arwood, Cody Street and Josh Hughes; her special uncle and aunt, Luther and Geraldine Arwood; and several cousins, including a special cousin, Steve Arwood.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 9, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Frank Osborne officiating. Interment will follow in the Arwood-Hughes Cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Johnson City Medical Center, the staff of NHC and the staff of Hillview Health Center including a special caregiver, Ashley Hope.
