Frances Marie Nelson Charlton, 86, of Elizabethton, passed away Friday, June 14, 2019, at Signature Health Care after an extended illness.
A native of Bluff City, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Evie Perry Nelson. She had lived most of her life in Elizabethton.
Frances was formerly employed at the Carter County Board of Education and Pine Ridge Care Center. She was of the Baptist Faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.
Survivors include her children, Harvey Charlton, Rose Combs, Katherine Bowman, Diana Lafleur and Misty Charlton; 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lois Scalf and Lucy Sims; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend and nurse, Vanissa.
A memorial service will be held at Memorial Funeral Chapel at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 20, with Chaplain Doug Hinshaw officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Signature Health Care and daughter Rose Combs and sister Lois Scalf, who have helped take care of Frances during her illness.
