Pounding the pavement… Ballad Health Covered Bridge 5K run, 3K walk brings out large group of participants

One couldn’t ask for a better morning for a road race than what 190 runners had Saturday for the annual Covered Bridge 5K run and 3K walk sponsored by Ballad Health.
With the excellent conditions, finishing times were pretty intense for both the men’s and women’s race.
Elizabethton’s Elijah Kipchirchir from Elizabethton crossed the blue tape first for the men with a time of 15:18. Kipchirchir had a 4.55 min/mi pace covering the course.
Greeneville’s Simeon Roberts came across second with a time of 16:22 while Charlottesville, VA’s Peyton Hoyal finished third crossing the finish line in 16:44.
Macy Carrier carried home the title on the women’s side as the Bluff City runner was the 11th overall finisher but the first woman to cross the pink tape in a time of 18:45.
Katie Little from Johnson City finished second in a time of 19:53 while Bristol’s Zoe Arrington claimed third place with a time of 20:12.
In the 3K walk, Michael Taylor finished first in a time of 18:18 on the men’s side while Rose Rasmussen took the women’s title in a time of 21:03.
There were 45 entries into the 3K walk.
