Plans have been made for the annual reunion of the Bluff City Vols, a semi-pro baseball team that saw action from the 1950s to the 1980s.

The Vols were a powerful baseball team under the direction of Earnest (Ernie) King Carrier with players coming from Bristol, Johnson City, Elizabethton, Bluff City, and other localities.

The team played in East Tennessee, Southwest Virginia, Western North Carolina, and in some parts of Kentucky.

Time has seen several of the players pass including Ben Rutherford, Robert ‘Rabb’ Harmon, and Robert ‘Slick’ Carrier to only mention a few.

A reunion has been scheduled for Saturday, August 3rd beginning at 2 pm in the pavilion at Bluff City.

The meal will be pot-luck so everyone attending is requested to please bring food, drink and other items.

More information can be obtained by contacting Ed Carrier in Bluff City at 423-534-4116 or Dick Ryan in Elizabethton at 423-543-1547.

All former Vols, family, friends, fans, and opponents are invited.
