Schedule of activities at the Elizabethton Senior Center for the week of August 12-16:
Membership Dues: $15 per year for 60 and older; $30 per year for 55-59. Come and join us and receive a monthly newsletter, have lunch, and enjoy the many activities and programs we provide every day and our fully-equipped fitness room.
Monday: Just Keep Movin’ — Cardio, Toning, Strength Building, 9-10 a.m.; Grandparents Raising Grandchildren, 10 a.m. Guest speaker will be Kathleen McLaughlin, AAA&D with SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) – “The Grandfamily Guidebook” will be given out today and discussion of the first chapter; Lunch — Breaded Pork Chop, 11 a.m.; Chair Yoga, 12:15-1:15 p.m.; Gentle-Flow Yoga, 1:30-2:30 p.m.
Tuesday: Walk with Ease, 8-9 a.m.; Getting Pulled Over, 10 a.m., with Lt. Rick Garrison, TN Highway Patrol. Various traffic stops and how to safely interact during a stop; Lunch — Meatballs, 11 a.m.; Line Dancing — Beginners’ Class, 12-1 p.m.; Line Dancing — Advanced Class, 1-2:30 p.m.
Wednesday: Just Keep Movin’ — Cardio, Toning, Strength Building, 9-10 a.m.; Current Events/Scams, 10 a.m., with Jerry Stout, Regional Supervisor with TN Homeland Security. Learn how to protect yourself and family against crime; Lunch — Chopped Steak/Gravy, 11 a.m.; Chair Yoga, 12:15-1:15 p.m.; Gentle-Flow Yoga, 1:30-2:30 p.m.
Thursday: Walk with Ease, 8-9 a.m.; Dancercize, 9:30-10:30 a.m.; Lunch — Sliced Turkey Breast, 11 a.m.
Friday: Just Keep Movin’ — Cardio, Toning, Strength Building, 9-10 a.m.; Let’s Play Bingo, 10 a.m.; Lunch — Chicken Tetrazzini, 11 a.m.; Playing Hand & Foot, 11:30 a.m.
Senior Olympics — Deadline to sign up is August 23. Bowling, golf, shuffleboard, table tennis, horseshoes, pickleball, swimming, basketball free throw, and new for this year is cornhole. If you’re interested in any of these activities call the Senior Center for details.
