ETSU Office of Professional Development offering pharmacy technician course

JOHNSON CITY – East Tennessee State University’s Office of Professional Development will offer a pharmacy technician course Sept. 3 through Nov. 21.

The class, limited to 25 students, will train participants to assist pharmacists in handling medications and serving patients. Those who pass the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam become nationally certified.

The course instructor is Cheryl Ollry, a pharmacy technician currently employed at James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. Ollry has over 15 years of experience in retail and hospital pharmacy.

Registration for the class is $400. There are 16 class meetings on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-9 p.m. on ETSU’s main campus. The national certification exam is a separate fee of $129.
