Deputies with the Carter County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a body that was found in the Carver’s Gap area Monday.

Investigators were notified of the male body’s discovery around 2 p.m. According to a release from the Carter County Sheriff’s Department the body has been identified as 53-year-old David Ladley Swanson, a resident of North Carolina, and the victim’s family has been notified.

Investigators have received a preliminary autopsy report for David Ladley Swanson from the medical examiner. The report indicates cardiac arrest as the cause of death.
