Friday Night Lights

It’s Friday night once again and it can only mean one thing – local high school football teams, cheerleaders, and bands will be taking the field once again for the fourth week of the 2019 regular season.
After taking a week off last week, the Cloudland Highlanders jump back into the fray of things when they travel to Hampton to square off with the Bulldogs who are coming off a loss last week to the Happy Valley Warriors and will be hungry to get into the win column once again.
In other local action, the Unaka Rangers board the bus for the long ride to Claiborne County and hope to rebound after two weeks of extra-session football and put last week’s 50-48 double-overtime loss to Hancock County behind them.
The Elizabethton Cyclones get to take the field at Citizens Bank Stadium for the first time this season when the Cyclones play host to Boone in the non-conference clash. Last week the Cyclones took apart Sullivan East 63-9 and come into Friday night’s contest looking to repeat that win.
Elizabethton is the state’s 4th ranked Class 4A team.
The Warriors of Happy Valley look to remain unbeaten when they take on the always tough Blue Devils of Unicoi County. The game will be played at Gentry Stadium.
All games kick off with a 7:30 pm start.
