Limestone man charged with attempted first-degree murder

According to Washington County Sheriff Ed Graybeal, Tyler S. Penley, 28, 658 Providence Road, was charged late Tuesday afternoon with attempted first-degree murder. The victim who stated he had been stabbed multiple times called deputies to the home. Upon arrival, deputies found the victim covered in blood with multiple stab wounds to the face, head and body. Due to the severity of his injuries, the on scene supervisors requested Wings Air Rescue to respond. The victim was airlifted to Johnson City Medical Center for emergency care. The victim is currently listed in stable condition.

Penley lives in the same home as the victim. Deputies took Penley into custody at the home after receiving information from the victim and witnesses that Penley was the perpetrator. Penley was interviewed and admitted to the stabbing, stating that voices had told him to do it.

Penley was scheduled to appear before the court Wednesday morning.
