Shirley Ann Deloach Smith, 75, Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2019, at Signature Healthcare Center following an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late James Alfred and Elizabeth Treadway Deloach.
Mrs. Smith was a dedicated and loving mother, a former employee of the American Bemberg Corporation, and was a cashier at Race Way for several years. Shirley loved arts and crafts, making floral designs and home decorations were amongst some of her favorite. She also adored the beach, sunshine, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was of the Baptist faith and attended as many guest services her health would allow.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Jack Deloach, Carl Deloach and Grady Deloach, and two sisters, Ruby Loveless and Joyce Arnett.
Survivors include her children, Donna Kay Presnell (Mike Wilhoit) and Ricky Lee Smith, both of Elizabethton, and four grandchildren, Tabitha Dawn Whitlock, Brandy Faith Boles, Amy Elizabeth Huskins and Amber Nichole Presnell. Shirley was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Charlotte Walker of Ohio, Carolyn Jenkins and Judy Blackburn, both of Elizabethton; and one brother, Jimmy Deloach, Elizabethton.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 25, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Chaplain Doug Hinshaw officiating. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 26, in the Deloach Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jason Russell, Jamie Jenkins, Randy Jenkins, Luke Boles, Cody Whitlock and Mike Wilhoit. Honorary pallbearer will be Junior Deloach. A special “Thank You” is expressed from the family to the staff of Signature Healthcare Center. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery.
