Neil Scott Whitehead

Neil Scott Whitehead, 955 Simerly Creek Road, Hampton, Tenn., went home to be with his Lord, Thursday, September 26, 2019, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
Neil was a native of Elizabethton and a 1985 graduate of Hampton High School. He was an active worker at Morgan Branch Free Will Baptist Church.
He was the son of the late Allen Whitehead and Louise Birchfield Whitehead of Hampton. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents and paternal grandparents and several aunts and uncles.
Neil leaves behind to cherish his memory his mother, Louise Whitehead, Hampton; his brother, Mark Whitehead and wife Lisa, Hampton; a nephew, Matthew Whitehead; a niece, Meagan Whitehead, Hampton; his aunt, Nan Birchfield Shepherd and husband J.B. of Elizabethton; his church family; and several cousins and friends.
There will be a service for Neil at Memorial Funeral Chapel at 8 p.m. Sunday, September 29, with Rev. Bob Campbell officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., prior to the service. Music will be provided by the Morgan Branch Quartet. Interment will be at 2 p.m. Monday, September 30, at the Captain Nelson Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Bob Grindstaff and the selected men from Morgan Branch Freewill Baptist Church, Roan Mountain, Tenn. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris McKinney, Walter McKinney, Charles Puckett, David Perkins, Herbert Hoilman, J.B. Shepherd, Eric Ross and Nancy Gastineau. Friends may also visit with the family at his mother’s residence. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Monday to go to the cemetery.
