Mary Jennings Ford

Mary Jennings Ford, 83, of Elizabethton, passed away Monday, October 7, 2019, at Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Winston and Sarah Lyons Jennings.
Mary was a graduate of Elizabethton High School and attended East Tennessee State University. She was retired from the Elizabethton City School System. She loved collecting antiques and loved to travel. She was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church where in previous years she sang in the choir.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Ford, January 10, 2015.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Art (Janice) Smithdeal, Rick (Lori) Smithdeal and Joe (Tammy) Smithdeal, all of Elizabethton; her grandchildren, Travis (Shelley) Smithdeal, Joseph and Sean Smithdeal; one great-granddaughter, Rosie Smithdeal; her step-daughter, Rebecca Ann (John) Scudder; one step-granddaughter, Madison Ann Scudder; a sister, Peggy Geagley; a brother, Joe (Janice) Jennings; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The graveside service for Mary Jennings Ford will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, October 10, at Mountain Home National Cemetery with her grandsons, Travis and Joseph Smithdeal, officiating. Interment will follow the service. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends with the Welcome Sunday School from Oak Street Baptist Church as honorary pallbearers. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of the 2200 Wing of Johnson City Medical Center for the excellent care she received. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Mary to the “We Love Our Church,” % Oak Street Baptist Church, 804 Oak Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643. Friends may visit at the residence or the residence of the sons. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 11:20 a.m. Thursday.
