Floyd Hershel Buchanan, 91, of Johnson City, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at the Waters of Johnson City.
A native of Buladean, N.C., he was a son of the late Clyde and Helena Gouge Buchanan.
Mr. Buchanan was Manager of Parks-Belk for 46 years. He was a founding member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Geraldine Archer Buchanan.
Survivors include his children, Shelby Jean (Blaine) Shoun, Sharon McKenzie, Whitney Bowling and Susie (Jim) Muller; two grandchildren, Corey (Keisha) and Jeremiah (Heidi) Shoun; three great-grandchildren, Darcie Dosher, Lyla Shoun and Cora Shoun; a sister, Myrtle Buchanan; and several nieces and nephews.
The graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 13, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Walker Roberson officiating. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Sunday, will be Hershel Bennett, Corey Shoun, Jeremiah Shoun, Blaine Shoun, Tim Archer, Chris Bowling and Nick Powers. Honorary pallbearers will be his church family. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Sunday.
