JOHNSON CITY — East Tennessee State University’s Department of Physical Therapy is hosting the second annual Trot or Treat 3K Fun Run on Saturday, Oct. 26, at ETSU’s Tri-Hall Field.

Participants in this Halloween-themed, family-friendly fun run are invited to dress in costume, and prizes will be awarded for best dressed.

Proceeds from the registration fees will go toward the Marquette Challenge, a non-profit fundraiser in support of continuing evidence-based research and education in the field of physical therapy.

“This is one of the key fundraising events that occurs annually in support of the only national organization exclusively dedicated to physical therapy research,” said Dr. Patricia King, chair of the Department of Physical Therapy. “The Marquette Challenge is led by physical therapy students whose participation grows their understanding of the importance of philanthropy as a part of professional life. We hope people in our region will come out and support them while having some Halloween themed fun.”

This is the sixth year that ETSU’s Department of Physical Therapy, which is part of the College of Clinical and Rehabilitative Health Sciences, has taken part in the Marquette Challenge. Students began the fundraiser in 2014 as the Zombie Run, but last year changed the name to Trot or Treat to make the event more fun and less scary for children of all ages.

Check-in opens at 7:30 a.m. on event day. Parking is available in the two large lots on Stout Drive. From there, follow the signs to ETSU’s Tri-Hall Field, located behind Governors, Centennial and Davis halls. The run begins at 9 a.m. and will start and end at Tri-Hall Field. Half of the course is on ETSU’s campus, while the other half will be through the ETSU University Woods’ trail system.

Participants may register up to and including the morning of the event. Pre-registration is $20 for adults ($25 at the event), $15 for college students and children ages 10-18, and free for children 9 and younger. Online registration is now open.
