Wesley Shankle Sr., 82, of Elizabethton, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2019, after an extended illness at his home. Wesley was born in Elizabethton, Tenn., to the late Elbert Adam Shankle and Ethel Agnes Raines. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Otis, Frank, Bobby and William; his sisters, Grace, Carm, Cortie and Marg; and the loving mother of his children, Glenda Shankle.
Wesley was a retired truck driver and spent several years driving for Mid-Cumberland Transport following his retirement.
Wesley was of the Jehovah Witness faith. He enjoyed listening to music, singing, playing his guitar, traveling, and seeing the sights. He was a great father who loved his children and was faithful to his family.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Wesley Jr. (Sherri) of Portland, Marie Shankle (Roger) of Portland, Steven Shankle (Cathy) of Gallatin, Chris Shankle (Dana) of Hartsville, Anita Jo Shankle of Portland, and Tracy Shankle of Elizabethton; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; his brother, Nathan Shankle (Louella); and sister, Louella Russell (Johnny) of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
