The one word to describe the 2019 football season to date for the Unaka Ranger football team would be disappointed.
Coming into the season, head coach O’Brien Bennett felt like his team had the possibility of winning a few games throughout the schedule but have only managed to win one game against Cosby, 34-28.
Bennett’s team has been able to score points throughout the season against teams in their classification but in some of the closer games have been their own worst enemy in turnovers and not being able to execute their offense effectively.
Tonight, the Rangers look to put a complete game together as they hit the road to Sunbright to close out the regular season and infuse some energy going into next week’s road playoff game.
The Sunbright Tigers have not had a banner year themselves coming into tonight’s contest with a 3-6 record but the Tigers also have played some formidable foes in Coalfield, Harriman, Oliver Springs, and Midway which were all loses during the season.
A win would mentally help the Rangers as they prepare for their first-round playoff game next week. Expect the Rangers to get off the bus with energy looking to earn win number two on the season.
One thing that will be affecting all teams tonight will be the fallen temperatures that could impact ball handling on both sides of the football.
Kickoff is at 7:30 pm.
