This year’s annual Veterans Day Program will be held at Unaka High School on Monday at 2 p.m.
The program will include Missing Man Table Ceremony and a flag-folding ceremony. Guest speaker for this year’s program is CW4 Randy Lingerfelt, U.S. Army retired. The program will also include Unaka High students leading the National Anthem and Pledge of Allegiance.
The Unaka High Band will also perform an Armed Forced medley.
“The program is a way to honor all those who have served our country in the military. I encourage all veterans and members of the community to come together and recognize who have served,” said David Batchelder, Veterans Service Officer for Carter County.
“I also want to encourage veterans to participate in the Veterans History Project being done through Congressman Phil Roe’s office. Veterans are being interviewed about their service and the videos are being compiled and sent to the Library of Congress where they will be a permanent record of your service. To participate you can contact Terry Harris in Congressman Roe’s office at (423) 254-1400 or call me at 542-1824,” said Batchelder.
