The Vance Jr. Viking JV came out of the blocks like a bolt of lightning racing to a 19-2 lead at the end of the first quarter of play against T.A. Dugger’s JV squad on Thursday evening.
With an opportunity to just hide their heads in the sand, the Jr. Cyclone JV team elected to stand tall and fight to the bitter end and fell to the visitors by 15, 45-30.
Jackson Buckles was responsible for the only points of the quarter for TAD in the opening six minutes of action.
The home Jr. Cyclones still couldn’t find any life offensively in the second period scoring only four more points as Nathan Bailey and Colby Blevins logged two points each as TAD went into the locker room trailing 31-6.
With the scoreboard not looking too good at this juncture, the Jr. Cyclones came out and closed the score out of their minds to outplay Vance 11-8 in the third stanza.
Buckles collected four of the 11 points while Rhett Slagle torched the net for a trey. Andrew Barnett and Jaiden Wallen collected the other two points of the stanza.
TAD kept the fighting mentality in the final quarter once again outscoring their visitors 13-7 to close the game out.
Wallen had a strong finish to the game scoring six in the final period to finish with a game-high eight points for TAD. Buckles finished close behind with six points.
Colby Blevins recorded five points with Slagle finishing with four. Brayden Buckles knocked down a trey in the fourth and logged three points.
Nathan Bailey and Barnett closed out the books with two points each.
