James Keith Smith, 63, of Elizabethton, passed away of natural causes on Tuesday, November 12, 2019. He was born July 28, 1956, in his hometown of Statesville, N.C.
James, who many knew by Keith, was an avid fisherman who loved to spend time on his boat with his beloved wife. He also was a top NC Tar Heel basketball fan and loved NASCAR. Keith found joy also in his work and life career as a textile supervisor that took him all over the east coast. He was a kind man that loved deeply with his whole heart.
He was predeceased by his father, Robert Lester Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Smith; his mother, Arlene Smith; his daughters, Emmalee (Sissy) Smith and Jennifer Benefield Jefferson; his step-children, Ryan Brackett, Randel Brackett, Daryl Brackett, and their families; his brother, Jeffery Alan Smith; and many other loved ones across TN, NC, ME, and NH.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the 2600 ICU nurses and staff at Johnson City Medical Center for the care and compassion during their difficult time.
The celebration of life and memorial service will be held at Fellowship Baptist Church in Bluff City, Tenn., on Saturday, November 16, at 3 p.m.
