The T.A. Dugger Jr. Cyclones were looking to put together a good game for their Cyclone fanbase that had gathered to cheer them on and actually got off to a really great start in the opening half by taking a 24-21 lead into the locker room.
Unfortunately, basketball consists of four quarters and while the Jr. Cyclones controlled the first half, Robinson came roaring back out of the locker room to defensively shut TAD in the second half allowing only 15 points to the home team while scoring 32 in the final half to take a 53-39 win.
Behind nine first-half points from Jeriah Griffin and eight points from Will Churchill, the Jr. Cyclones took command in the opening half.
Nigel Vidale helped to keep Robinson close by scoring eight points in the first half while teammate Ben Smith dropped in six points.
Whatever message that the Robinson coach delivered at the half, it was received loud and clear as the visitors from Kingsport came out on fire to seize the tempo and momentum away from TAD.
Vidale was on a mission in the second half blistering the cotton for 15 points in the final half to push his team through to the win. Will Hurd also caught fire burying three treys to aid in the win.
Vidale was the top scorer for the night finishing with 23 points in the contest. Hurd finished with 13 points and Smith 10.
TAD was paced by Griffin with 18 points to go along with five steals in the game. Churchill ended the night with 12 points.
Eli Blevins chipped in with three points and played strong on the boards pulling down eight rebounds. Luke Whaley, Zion Reddick, and Zack Bates picked up two points apiece with Whaley dishing out three assists.
