Grace Baptist

Hanging of the Greens will be celebrated Sunday at Grace Baptist Church, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The congregation will kick off the Advent season with traditional carols and scripture reading. During the Hanging of the Greens service, the sanctuary will be transformed for the Christmas season as the significance of each decoration is explained.

The church is located at 1114 Broad St.

The pastor, the Rev. Travis Tyler, invites the public to attend.

Church of Jesus

The Church of Jesus, 809 W. Main St., Johnson City, will celebrate its 67 anniversary December 1.

Evangelist and singer John Lanier will speak at the 10 a.m. service. The Bentons sing in the 6 p.m. service.

Pastor George Hall and the congregation invite everyone to attend. 

Milligan Free Will

Milligan Free Will Baptist Church, 1471 Milligan Highway, will have a gospel song service Sunday at 11 a.m. Featured singers are the Jordan Family Band of Northern Georgia.

Everyone is invited.

Upper Gap Creek

The Upper Gap Creek Free Will Baptist Church will have its annual candlelight service Sunday at 6 p.m. This special service marks the opening of the Christmas season at the church.

Everyone is invited to attend by the congregation and pastor, the Rev. Dale Blevins.

The church is located at 1380 Dry Creek Road.

First Presbyterian

The pastor, the Rev. Dr. Brian C. Wyatt, will preach Sunday at the morning worship service at 11 a.m. His message is “Raise Your Head” based on the scripture Luke 21: 25-28.

An Education Hour is at 9:45 a.m.

Other opportunities for the week include Meditation at 7 p.m. Wednesday; Thursdays with Jesus Reading Group from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon; Exercise Class from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday; and yoga, Friday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.
