Dorothy Evelyn Morrell Jaynes, 79, of Elizabethton, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2019, at her residence.
A native of Unicoi County, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Laura Carver Morrell.
Dorothy was a retired CNA at Hermitage Health Center. She loved to travel and being with her grandchildren. She was of the Christian Faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Millard McKinley “Bud” Jaynes Jr., and a brother, Gene Morrell.
Survivors include her children, Kathy Russell and husband Michael, and Mathew Jaynes and wife Robin, all of Elizabethton, and Neal Jaynes and wife Rebecca, Kingsport; seven grandchildren, Amanda Russell, Summer Johnson, Dustin Jaynes, Austin Jaynes, McKinley Jaynes, Riley Jaynes and Brentley Jaynes; two great-grandchildren, Abbie Johnson and Matthew Jaynes; her sister-in-law, Irene Morrell; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, December 2, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Chris Cody officiating and her grandson, Riley Jaynes, speaking. The graveside service and interment will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 3, in the Bell Cemetery, Unicoi. Active pallbearers will be Mike Russell, Josh Johnson, McKinley Jaynes, Dustin Jaynes, Austin Jaynes, Riley Jaynes, Brentley Jaynes and Jeff Russell. Honorary pallbearers will be family and friends. The family would like to express a special ”Thank You” to the staff of Amedisys Hospice including a special CNA, Gail Miller, and nurse, Emilee Carver. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence of a son and daughter-in-law, Mathew and Robin Jaynes. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at noon Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at our website at www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
