Mrs. Lavonia “Lib” Griffey Mann, 72, of Lenoir, N.C., passed away while surrounded by her family on Saturday, December 7, 2019, at her residence.
Mrs. Mann was born on April 16, 1947 in Carter County, Tenn., to the late James and Mary Moser Griffey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Lee Griffey.
Lib was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to spend time painting landscapes and animals. Lib was a true lover of Christmas, it was her favorite time of the year and she celebrated it all year long.
Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband, RV Mann, of the home; her sons, Dwayne Keith Mann and wife Bridget of Granite Falls, Billy Joe Mann and fiancée Mary Hill of Lenoir, and Michael Kevin Mann and wife Michelle of Hudson; daughter, April Pierce and husband Mark of Lenoir; brother, Jackie Lynn Griffey of Elizabethton, Tenn.; sister, Ann Benfield and husband Mike of Claremont; grandchildren, Nina Mann, Dustin Mann, Jessica Adkinson, Stephanie Dula, Joshua Mann, Michael Jonathon Mann, Joseph Mann, Madason Mann, Malarie Mann, Myles Mann and Lavonia Elizabeth Mann; and great-grandchildren, Carter Dula, Destiney Phillips, Layla Adkinson, Bailey Dula, Khloe Adkinson and Jayden Adkinson.
A funeral service to honor Mrs. Mann will be held on Thursday, December 12, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 11, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Lenoir. Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Pierce, Hank Bixby, Jesse Adkinson, Cody Ekcard, Michael Gordy and John Drost. Honorary pallbearer will be Ramona Smith.
