Debra Taylor, 61, of Elizabethton, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2019, at Franklin Woods Community Hospital. She was a daughter of the late James Henry and Wanda Lee Morris Miller and was born in Carter County on February 22, 1958. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Alfred Taylor, and a brother, James Henry Miller Jr.
Debra was a retired manager of Roadrunner Market. She was a lifelong member of East Side Christian Church. She loved God, her family, her church family and her fur babies, Snoopy, Bristol and Buster.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Brandy Taylor Torbett of Elizabethton; two grandchildren, Anthony Layton Moody and Sierra Rayne Torbett, both of Elizabethton; one brother, Michael Miller of Elizabethton; her best friend forever, Rose Hill and her husband Wayne of Elizabethton; a special niece, April Miller of Elizabethton; special friends, Jay Odom, Pam Perry, Linda Bishop, Margaret Stout and Debbie Dollar; her chosen children, Lisa Britt, Julie Williams, Elizabeth Liverman, Robbie Hill, Sandra Smith and Wendy Williams; and her chosen grandchildren, Mikey, Ashley, Taylor, Jacob, Toby and Blake.
A graveside service to honor the life of Debra Taylor will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 2, at Emmert Cemetery with Mr. Ben Moore, minister, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Julie Williams Gabel. Active pallbearers will be Layton Moody, Mikey Hoilman, Bill Cifers and Blaine Hyder. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of East Side Christian Church. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Thursday for the graveside service. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38102.
