Dugger snags pair of wins over East

The T.A. Dugger Jr. High boys teams had a successful night on the hardwood on Monday evening as the Jr. Cyclones took two wins over the visiting Sullivan East Jr. High Patriots.
Varsity
TAD……….49
East……….25
The Jr. Cyclones rolled out to a 24-12 halftime advantage and never looked back in handing the East varsity team a 24-point defeat.
TAD put three players in double figures scoring-wise as Will Churchill led the way with 11 points in the win. Nipping on Churchill’s heels were Luke Whaley and Jeriah Griffin who both fired in 10 points each to help carry the Jr. Cyclones.
Nine players reached the scoring column for the Jr. Cyclones as Zion Reddick and Jon Espinoza dropped in four points each while Eli Blevins and Xavier Smalls tickled the twine with a trey apiece.
Zackery Bates and Mason Ball totaled a field goal each for TAD as well.
Churchill and Griffin led the way on the boards pulling down seven rebounds apiece with Griffin picking up four assists.
Blevins and Ball contributed by pulling down four rebounds each while Whaley and Bates collected three and two steals respectively.
Junior Varsity

In an entertaining game to kick the night off, the T.A. Dugger junior varsity team built a nice lead and then had to fight down the stretch to take a tight 40-37 contest.
The Jr. Cyclones came out like gangbusters as Andrew Barnett and Rhett Slagle dropped in corner treys to spark a 12-10 first-quarter lead for the Jr. Cyclones.
TAD managed to work to a 21-18 advantage at the break before the second half turned into a crowd-pleasing, down-to-the-wire finish as the Jr. Cyclones survived the wild contest.
Slagle led the way for the JV with 11 points including three treys. Barnett also finished with three treys and 10 points.
Justin Whitehead contributed with six points in the victory for TAD with Jackson Buckles netting five points.
Jaiden Wallen (4), Nathan Bailey (2), and Colton Killion (2) closed out the scoring for the Jr. Cyclones.
Wallen was a rebounding machine for the Jr. Cyclones ripping down 14 boards in the contest. Kyron Smalls pulled down four rebounds while Barnett added three.
Barnett recorded seven assists in the contest with Whitehead robbing the Jr. Patriots for four steals.
Fisher led the Jr. Patriots with nine points all coming on treys.
TAD will be back in action on Thursday as the Jr. Cyclones celebrate Eighth Grade Night hosting the Greeneville Jr. Greene Devils.
