Richard Wayne “Dick” Brumit

Richard Wayne “Dick” Brumit, 75, of Johnson City, died Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native of Johnson City, son of the late R.D. Sr. and Ailene McCurry Brumit.
Richard was an active partner in The Brumit Company. The Brumit Company, a real estate leasing and development firm, has been in the East Tennessee area for the past 30 years. In his earlier years, Richard was active in the family business operating supermarkets and convenience stores.
In addition to his parents, a niece, Leanna Stump, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, R.D. “Bob” Brumit Jr. and Phyllis B. of Johnson City; a niece and her husband, Jessica B. and Hunter Burleson of Piney Flats; his sister, Rebecca Brumit Watson and niece, Emily Watson, a nephew and his wife, Evan D. and Taylor Wyatt Watson, all of Lawton, Okla.; and several cousins.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 19, from 3 until 4 p.m. at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow in the Oak Chapel at 4 p.m. under the direction of Rev. Jim Cambron and Evan D. Watson. A committal service will be conducted in Monte Vista Memorial Park on Monday, January 20, at 11 a.m. Family and friends are asked to assemble by 10:50 a.m. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
