Bobbie Lee Hughes

Bobbie Lee Hughes, Watauga, was born January 10, 1929 and joined the Lord on January 29, 2020. He passed peacefully at his home at the age of 91 in Turkey Town, Tenn.
Bob began life in Turkey Town as the youngest of eight children.
He served in both the Merchant Marines as well as the Army before leaving the service to later join and retire out of the Arizona Pipe Trade. After retiring and returning to Turkey Town, he opened the Turkey Town Mall. Bob also started the Carter County Planning Commission and proceeded as Chairman for 20 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, (Samuel) Jack, Ross, and Howard Hughes; his sisters Thelma, Pansy May, and Wanda; his wife, Alma Lee Hughes; and daughter, Brenda Peterson.
Survivors of Bob include his brother, Walter Eugene Hughes; granddaughter, Bobbi Peterson Cook; and great-grandchildren, Sophia Peterson, Mason Peterson, Xander, Piper, and Phoenix Cook.
A private funeral service will be at the Mountain Home National Cemetery. A celebration of life will be hosted at Watauga City Hall, 103 W. 4th Avenue, Watauga, TN 37694, on Sunday, February 2. This event will begin at 2 p.m. and hosts will provide refreshments and drinks. Donations made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605-4255 in lieu of flowers will be accepted in his honor. Condolences may be sent to our website at memorialfcelizabethton.com.
