Millionaire and Billionaire were both very proud of their financial accomplishments.
“I’m one of the richest people in the world,” Millionaire told Billionaire, his wife, “but I’m still the same handsome, humble guy you married all those years ago.”
“I know, dear,” Billionaire grinned. “That’s what I love about you. You’re so handsome and humble…and honest.”
“I must admit, we’ve made a pretty good team,” Millionaire stated. “When we started out, all we had was God and each other. Now we’ve got all this money, and we still have God and each other.”
“Well, you do know why the Lord has blessed our finances,” Billionaire said. “About a year after we got married, we decided to give the Lord 10 percent of what we made.”
“Yes, I remember the day we made that decision,” Millionaire recalled. “It was during a morning worship service at our church, when the pastor challenged everyone to begin tithing on their income.
“At the time we made the decision to accept his challenge, I wasn’t sure we were making the right decision, but God began blessing us so much that I knew He was going to honor us for making the commitment to Him.”
“Then a short time later, we decided to begin giving an additional 10 percent to missions, and the Lord began blessing us so much more,” Billionaire smiled.
“The more we gave, the more God blessed us,” Billionaire beamed. She quoted one of her favorite Scripture passages (Psalm 50, verses 10-12) to Millionaire, “For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills. I know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field are mine. If I were hungry, I would not tell thee: for the world is mine, and the fullness thereof.”
“Over the past few years, God has shown me just how big and awesome He really is,” Millionaire said.
The couple realized that their money was the least of their true wealth. “We have each other and we have our son and daughter,” said Billionaire. “That, plus our relationship with the Lord, all those things are our true wealth.”
Millionaire responded, “The Lord has truly blessed us with far more than we deserve.”
“I have an idea!” exclaimed Billionaire. “God has blessed us tremendously! We should start giving 95 percent of our income to God and live on the other five percent.”
“We’ll do it!” Millionaire declared. “But I do see one minor problem.”
“What’s that honey?” Billionaire asked.
Millionaire smiled, “I don’t know how we’re going to handle all the blessings! God will pour out so many blessings, we won’t be able to catch them all!”
