Donald and Mary Hembree will be celebrating their golden wedding anniversary on Friday, February 28, 2020.

Don is the son of the late Della Hembree Jobe from Campbell County. Mary is the daughter of the late Earl and Hassie Hodge from Elizabethton. They now reside in Johnson City.

The couple were married at Green Mountain Freewill Baptist Church by the late Pastor L.D. Berry.

Mr. and Mrs. Hembree have four children, Don Hembree Jr. (Susan), Mark Hembree (Suzanne), Rachel Scharberg (Mike) and Melissa Stapleton (Mike).

They have eight grandchildren, Melanie Arnett (TJ), Kayla and Leann Scharberg, Matthew Hembree and Dixie, Charli, MJ and MaryGrace Stapleton. They also have two great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Thomas and Easton Arnett.

Both Don and Mary retired from the VA Medical Center after 33 years. They now enjoy being with each other and spending time with their grandchildren.

The couple would like to invite everyone to help celebrate the joyous occasion. They have a party planned for Saturday, February 29, at Beck Mountain Wedding Barn in Elizabethton from 3 to 5 p.m. All family and friends are welcome.
