Trula M. Buckles, 94, of Elizabethton, Tenn., was embraced by the arms of Christ, while surrounded by her family, on Monday, February 24, 2020.
Mrs. Buckles was a lifelong resident of Carter County. She was a former cosmetologist and owner and operator of Williams Self Service Market, located in the Hunter Community of Stoney Creek.
She was preceded in death by her husband, M/SGT Lawrence L. Buckles, (USMC, Ret.), and her mother, Burnie Williams.
Mrs. Buckles attended Carter Christian Church and loved homemaking.
Mrs. Buckles is survived by her son, Hugh F. Buckles of Elizabethton, and a very special friend and confidant, Wanda Bowers.
Mrs. Buckles’ body will lie in state on Thursday, February 27, from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton. A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that each person perform at least one act of kindness for a fellow brother or sister.
