MEMPHIS (AP) — A Tennessee man has been arrested and accused of shooting at a driver during a road rage incident, authorities said.

Michael Angers, 43, was arrested Tuesday and charged with attempted second-degree murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm, news outlets reported.

Shelby County sheriff’s deputies said the victim was driving north on Hacks Cross at Shelby Drive around 11:30 p.m. Monday when a car passed him on the right and shot at him.

The victim told deputies he followed the person’s car, took down the license plate number and pulled into a gas station. The victim said he felt a burning sensation in his leg and realized he’d been shot. Paramedics found metal fragments in the victim’s leg.

Deputies traced the tag to Angers’ home where they found the car and a loaded gun inside the vehicle. Angers told deputies he fired at the car because the victim was driving recklessly.

The victim’s name wasn’t immediately released. It’s unclear whether Angers had an attorney who could comment on his behalf.
