Anna Cathryn “Cathy” Burke Wilcox, 74, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 10, 2020, from Ivy Hall Nursing Home. Cathy was born in Johnson City, Tenn., to the late Curtis and Ethel Johns Burke. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Wilcox; a daughter, Tammy Stoots; a son, Clifford Sanders; and two brothers, Bob Burke and Bill Burke.
Cathy had worked as a nurse at Johnson City Medical Center Home Health for many years and then for Amedysis Home Health. She attended Valley Forge Freewill Baptist Church. She loved being a caregiver, gardening, canning vegetables and home cooking. Most of all she loved her family and family gatherings.
Those left to cherish her many wonderful memories include her son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Julie Wilcox; four grandsons, Hank Wilcox and Andru Wilcox, Michael Sanders and Steven Stoots; two brothers, Jerry Burke and Dave Burke (Sharon); a sister, Patricia Dykes (Claude); a son-in-law, Richard Stoots; and several great-grandchildren.
The family will hold a memorial service for Anna Cathryn “Cathy” Burke Wilcox at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 13, at Valley Forge Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Johnson officiating. Music will be provided by Jeff Snyder and Jennifer Martin. The family will receive friends at the church from 5 until 6:30 p.m., prior to the service. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home and Amedysis Hospice for the love and care given to Cathy during her illness. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Valley Forge Freewill Baptist Church or the Shepherd’s Inn of Elizabethton.
