JOHNSON CITY — Northeast Tennessee Entertainment Alliance (NETEA) is set to begin a six-week film acting masterclass for adults taught by actor Patrick Cronin beginning Sunday, March 29, and running through Sunday, May 17. Film actors know that proper training is one of the keys to success in the industry and attending class is an ideal way to hone the craft of film acting.
This six-week film acting series will be taught by Patrick Cronin. Cronin has more than 40 years of experience in the industry and recently retired from teaching in the RTVF program at ETSU where he taught acting. He has starred in more than 100 films and television shows including Splash, Dr. Giggles, Sibling Rivalry and Rocky V and was a series regular on shows including Home Improvement, Seinfeld, Knots Landing, Alice and more.
Cronin will instruct actors on scene study, audition techniques, improvisation, monologue, commercial acting and set etiquette. Each student will not only have in depth training, but they will also have an acting reel to use when the classes are over. Classes will be held at Main Street Theatre in downtown Johnson City.
Angela Caito, founder and President of the Board of Northeast Tennessee Entertainment Alliance said, “We want to promote the area for national productions but we also want to ensure our local actors as well as professional crew have the opportunity to grow and develop in the entertainment industry, that our local businesses profit and our local graduates have opportunities to work in their chosen field within the industry right here at home rather than having to move away when they graduate. Film acting classes as well as production workshops are a great way to help people move forward in their career.”
Northeast Tennessee Entertainment Alliance is a nonprofit located in Johnson City and is on a mission to strengthen the local economy by promoting Northeast Tennessee as an outstanding place for film and other entertainment. The organization works with local and national film and entertainment production to assist in filming in the local area. They are also working to offer production workshops for those interested in the industry and they host networking events monthly.
Since their founding in early 2019, they have worked with productions for The Travel Channel, Hudsun Media, Skytribe Pictures and Sling and Stone Films, Underfoot Films & Entertainment as well as several others to secure locations, refer local production crew and more. NETEA has partnerships with Northeast Tennessee Regional Economic Partnership, Create Appalachia, Main Street Theatre, ETSU Department of Media & Communication and several local hotels, restaurants and other businesses. They also partnered with Josh Mancuso, Mancuso Entertainment, to host the first Johnson City Film Festival in 2019.
