Carter County Trustee Randall Lewis in a notice to taxpayers this week said unpaid 2018 property taxes will be certified in Chancery Court April 1. At that time additional interest as well as court costs will be added to the tax bill.

To avoid this process, Lewis said payment can be made in person on or before March 31 or payments may be mailed, but they must be postmarked on or before March 31.

For those persons who qualify for the tax relief program for 2019 property taxes, the taxes must be paid on or before April 6 to be eligible.

The office of the Trustee will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
