On Friday, March 13, 2020, at approximately 2028 hrs, officers of the Elizabethton Police Department, Elizabethton Fire Department, and Carter County EMS were dispatched to the area of 509 West Elk Avenue in reference to an accident with injury.  On scene, officers requested the Elizabethton Police Department’s Specialized Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) Team be dispatched to the scene.  According to witnesses, a black Yamaha motorcycle was traveling eastbound on West Elk Avenue at a high rate of speed when he struck a white Nissan pickup that was turning from West Elk Avenue onto Railroad Street.  Witnesses stated that the driver of the motorcycle was riding a “wheelie” just prior to the collision.  The driver of the motorcycle was transported to the Johnson City Medical Center by Carter County Rescue Squad personnel with serious injuries.  Investigation is continuing and charges are pending.
