Carl Montgomery

On Wednesday, March 18, 2020, Carl Evans Montgomery, 72, of Hampton, Tenn., stepped on board that old ship of Zion to kneel at the Master’s feet. Carl was born in Carter County to the late Mazie Davis and Spencer Montgomery. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved nephew, Tony Montgomery; his precious niece, Kathie Wilson; and two special friends/brothers, Richard Hicks and Ray Heaton.
Carl was a graduate of Hampton High School, Class of 1965, and a retiree from Snap-on Tools. He was also a member of Friendship Freewill Baptist Church of Hampton.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Sandra Montgomery; his brother, Harold Montgomery; his sister, Shelia Williams; his beloved nephew/son, Todd Montgomery and wife Tracy; his sister-in-law, Jackie Honeycutt; his precious niece, Kristy Rogers; his nephews, Jason Phillips, Mark Williams and Thomas Williams; a great-niece, Sadie Williams; two great-nephews, C.J. Wilson and Samuel Phillips; an uncle, Clark Morton; and the joy of his life, his granddaughter, Paige Montgomery.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 21, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton. The graveside service will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Todd Montgomery, Doug Vines, Shannon Morton, Joe Greenwell, Greg Heaton and Lester Rainbolt. Honorary pallbearers will be John and Howard Presnell, Richard Hill, Ken Rainbolt, Phil Campbell, Jason Phillips, Bob Arnett, Steve Rainbolt, Thomas Williams, Richard Tester, Curtis Heaton, Bobby Scott, Corey Matherly and John Lewis. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the medical staff involved in Carl’s care. All of the neighbors and friends for visits and prayers.
