Food City announced this week that effective immediately, it plans to hire 2,500 additional associates to assist those who are currently seeking employment.

The Food City Distribution Center in Abingdon, VA, is currently hiring over 100 associates in various warehousing/distribution positions.

Food City store locations currently have both full-time and part-time opportunities available in key customer service and food service positions throughout its entire market area. The positions include cashiers, courtesy clerks, day/night stockers, as well as experienced/skilled positions, such as meat Cutters, cake decorators, retail management.

In announcing the planned hiring, company officials said they are committed to the communities they serve, and that all interested candidates for employment are asked to apply online at FoodCityCareers.com or visit any Food City location to complete an employment application.

The company earlier this week announced new store hours from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. with the first hour of opening dedicated to senior citizens shopping.
