Carter County has received an employee safety grant from Tennessee Risk Management Trust.
This marks the third year Carter County has received an employee safety grant from Tennessee Risk Management Trust, which is a member owned Trust founded in 1987 to provide insurance and liability services to public entities.
“This is the third year we have given these grants, and Carter County has gotten one each year,” said Jason Baggett, a loss control specialist with TNRMT. “This is our way of giving back to our members.”
When TNRMT first launched their employee safety grants the organization awarded $60,000 in grants to member organizations. Each year the grant allocation has grown, according to Baggett, with this year’s grant awards totaling $249,000.
“It all goes back to employee safety,” Baggett said.
Carter County Emergency Management Agency Deputy Director Billy Harrell said he was thrilled the county received the grant award again.
“We are going to use the money for safety items to help our employees,” Harrell said.
Among the planned purchases using the grant funds are safety uniforms for the Carter County Landfill and a chain hoist for the Carter County School System’s bus garage.
