Off with the old… Roofing contractors staying busy despite COVID-19 pandemic

When a new day brings a beautiful sunny, dry start, what do you do?
You replace shingles on a house and that was exactly what a 12-man crew was doing for Douglas Roofing on Friday morning to a home just off Siam Road.
Members were busy pulling off old shingles, replacing bad portions of plywood, putting down underlayment and drip edge, and putting the final touch on with brand new shingles.
According to one of the crew members, the COVID-19 hasn’t slowed the roofing business as his crew replaces on average four to five roofs per week.
The team started at 8 a.m. on Friday morning and if everything went well, the team was expected to be completely finished by 3 p.m.
Many homeowners are in the process of doing the same thing as a heavy, early rain season has caused leaks in many homes.
