Charles W. “Buckeye” Campbell Jr.

Charles W. “Buckeye” Campbell Jr., 72, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord and his beloved wife on Monday, March 30, 2020, at his residence. Charles was born in Carter County, Tenn., to the late Charles W. Campbell Sr. and Annabelle Arrowood Campbell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Susan Lorene Johnson Campbell, and a son, Donald Gene Campbell.
Charles was retired from General Shale as a truck driver and was a United States Navy veteran.
Those left to cherish his memories include his son, Timothy S. Campbell and wife Mary of Elizabethton; one brother, William F. Campbell (Cookie) of North Carolina; and his sister, Sherry Hicks and husband Ronnie of Elizabethton.
An open visitation for Charles W. Campbell Jr. will be conducted between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, in the Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton. A graveside service to honor the life of Charles will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 2, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Mr. David Siebenaler officiating. Military Honors to be accorded by the Bristol VFW Post #6975. Active pallbearers will be Billy Campbell, Joshua Hicks, Jimmy Carr, Jimmy Sizemore, Matthew Brace and Abi Brace. Honorary pallbearers will be the elders and deacons and the men’s class at Valley Forge Christian Church. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, at 10:15 a.m. Thursday to go in procession. For those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Valley Forge Christian Church, 114 VF Christian Church Road, Elizabethton, TN 37643. The family would like to especially thank Caris Hospice, especially Courtland, for the loving care shown to Mr. Campbell during his illness.
