Patricia “Pat” Bowers

Patricia “Pat” Bowers, 73, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 9, 2020, at Hillview Nursing Home. She was the daughter of the late Sanford Berry and Catherine Puckett Berry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Raymond Honeycutt; a sister, Wilma Huskins; and a precious great-granddaughter, Abigail Marie Grindstaff, who she is spoiling right now in Heaven, I am sure!
Pat was a graduate of Elizabethton High School, Class of 1964, and she also attended Steed Business College. She was a member of Blue Springs Christian Church and attended Pinecrest Christian Church with her daughter, when she was able. She worked in retail for TG&Y and also Heck’s Department Store. She had also worked for Roadrunner Markets in Boones Creek for 11 years. Pat had also been the owner and operator of Country Way Restaurant.
Pat is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tina Bowers Westgate and Jeff Westgate (who was a huge help during her sickness to his wife), both of the home; her grandchildren, Amber Morris, and Brandon Grindstaff and wife Lauren; four great-grandsons, Ian Honaker, Jared Taylor, Logan Grindstaff and Cooper Grindstaff; a sister, Kathy Taylor; a niece, Tammy Basham; and two special friends, James Parker and Fred Parker, who helped take care of her while she was still in her home.
An open visitation for family and friends to sign the register book will be conducted from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday, April 12, in the chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, or at the home of her daughter, Tina, at 150 Woodland Heights, Elizabethton, at any time. A graveside service to celebrate the life of Patricia “Pat” Bowers will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, April 13, in the Pearl Bowers Cemetery with Mr. Randall Carrier, minister, officiating. Active pallbearers will be Chris Russell, James Parker and Fred Parker. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Westgate, Brandon Grindstaff, Ian Honaker, Jared Taylor, Logan Grindstaff and Cooper Grindstaff. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home at 10:15 a.m. Monday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Hillview Nursing Home during the time of Pat’s sickness, the level of care and professionalism was second to none.
