Thomas Milton Boyd

Thomas Milton Boyd, 80, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away peacefully on Good Friday, April 10, 2020, at the Unicoi County Hospital. He was a son of the late William and Mary Helen Boyd, born to them on September 20, 1939 in Glade Spring, Va. Thomas proudly served his country in the United States Army and volunteered in community as well as at the Veterans Affairs in Mountain Home, Tennessee.
After coming to work in Kingsport, Tenn., Thomas attended East Tennessee State University where he met and married his loving wife Sandra Kelly, on November 25, 1959. Thomas later entered into the United States Army and was commissioned as officer, making a career as an airborne ranger. After serving his country in Germany, where his son was born, and Italy, he returned to New Jersey, where his daughter was born.
After many years in the United States, Thomas returned to a tour in Italy, but later retired as LTC and returned home to live and work on Bay Hill near Johnson City. Later in life he moved to his condo in Quail Hollow of Elizabethton where he lived until the time of his passing.
Thomas had a long and happy life with much service and success. He traveled all over the world and saw and felt much life and love.
Along with his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Glen Boyd, and two sisters, Wilda DeBusk and Doris Keebler.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Kelly Boyd; his son, Ryan Thomas Boyd; his daughter, Kelly Jean Boyd; a sister, Janice Boydsten; and several nieces, nephews and friends left behind to cherish his memory.
At his wishes, Thomas was cremated and there will be no services.
