Joy Dean Wilson Babb

Joy Dean Wilson Babb “JoJo”, 83, 1533 Burgie Street, Elizabethton, Tenn., entered into the presence of God on Monday, April 13, 2020, at Johnson City Medical Center. Joy was born on July 7, 1936 to Wade Wilson and Maude Carrier Wilson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by infant sister, Naomi Marie Wilson; brother, Arley Guy Wilson; son-in-law, Jonathan Grubbs and special cousin Shelby Williams. Joy was a graduate of Elizabethton High School and attended East Tennessee State Teacher College and Steed College. She was a former employee of Raytheon Corporation and North American Rayon Corporation retiring after 35 plus years as shipping office manager. She was president of the Local 2614 Clerical Union, vice president and trustee of Wilson Cemetery Association. She was faithful member of Watauga Valley Freewill Baptist Church her entire life and was blessed to serve as pianist for many years. After accepting Jesus as her Savior she was honored to play the piano and sing for many churches, weddings and funerals in service to Christ. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Roger Wayne Babb, loving son Jerry “Skip” Campbell, beautiful daughter Dr. Gina (Chris) Roberson, precious granddaughter Emmaline Rose Jonathan Grubbs, special cousins Diana Blevins and Lyndal Lowe, special girls, Barbara Wilson, Amelia and Violet and their mother Leslie, loving friends Ron and Sandra Grubbs and several nieces and nephews who were very dear to her heart.
Due to current restrictions on public gatherings a private burial will be held at Wilson Cemetery, officiated by the Reverend Bill Greer. Active pallbearers will be Jeff Wilson, Jon Wilson, Chuck Murphy, Brian Decker, Rick Babb, Seth Babb, Gene Babb, Joe Campbell and Bob Benson. Honorary Pallbearers include her Church Family, Ronald Grubbs Family, Reverend Claude Babb, Jacob Murphy, and Ted Puckett.
A celebration of life will be held at Watauga Valley Freewill Baptist Church at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wilson Cemetery Association at 115 Wilshire Dr. Elizabethton, TN 37643.
