Thelma June Murray Blackwell

Thelma June Murray Blackwell, 87, Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2020, at Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Arthur J. and Betty Morton Murray.
Thelma was a retired employee from the cafeteria at Happy Valley High School. She was a member of Big Springs Church of Christ. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who loved her boys, their wives, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph W. Morton, and her second husband John L. Blackwell; a daughter, Judy Blackwell; and her brothers, Rayburn, Jack, Steve and Gary Murray.
Survivors include her children, Dale Morton and wife Kim, Ed Blackwell and wife Becky and Ted Blackwell; her grandchildren, Summer Morton and husband Rocky King and Brandi Blackwell; her great-grandchild, Kellsie Hicks; her brother, Jim Murray; and her sister, Grace Murray Laws.
The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Judy Little and Gene Pisseri. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Blackwell to the Big Springs Church of Christ, 1106 Gap Creek Road, Elizabethton, TN 37643 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
